An Apple a Day - Crochet Project

I was blog hopping the other day and I came across Sew Incredibly Crazy... and she had these apples. I wanted something I could make for a quick gift for someone.  This just hit me, "THIS IS IT"!!

Apple Dishcloths

Are you ready to see more?

Aren't these just adorable?
Apple Dishcloths

According to the pattern the Hanging Loop (stem) is supposed to be brown and you make the leaf separately and sew it on.

Apple Dishcloths

Ummmm... I didn't do that.

Apple Dishcloths
The pattern says, "Hanging Loop
With 2 strands of (color) B held tog, join with sl st to first sc at top of Apple. Ch 12. Join with sl st in same sp as first sl st. Fasten off."

I had the pattern printed out on a regular letter sized piece of paper and I used that paper to measure where I was going to fold the yarn back and create a starting loop.  I measured one length and one width of the paper (that's 19 1/2 inches for those that carry a measuring tape around with them everywhere they go.  :)  Once measured I folded and created my starting loop.  I joined with a sl st  and following the pattern holding both strands I chained 12.  I then joined with a sl st in the same space as the first sl st.  Errrch! Stop! I did NOT fasten off at this point.

Since I was already connected I just went onto following the directions for the leaf.

With (color) C, ch 12.
1st row: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in next ch.
1 tr in each of next 5 ch. 1 dc in next ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 3 sc in last ch. Working across opposite side of ch, 1 hdc in next ch. 1 dc in next ch. 1 tr in each of next 5 ch. 1 dc in next ch. 1 hdc in next ch. 2 sc in last ch. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Sew Leaf to Apple near Hanging Loop."

Be ans how as it's already connected I did not need to "Sew Leaf to Apple..."   : )

Apple Dishcloths with personalized tags from Pick Your Plum

When I was done I sewed on my personalized ribbon tags I purchased from Pick Your Plum a few months ago.

I made all three of these in ONE EVENING!
